On 14 March 2025, as rain clouds gathered over Setumong Village, so did community members eager to witness the official handover of the Bakone Ba Matlala A Thaba Traditional Council Offices.

Delivering the keynote address, Limpopo CoGHSTA MEC, Mr. Basikopo Makamu, described the event as a symbol of progress, unity, and the strong partnership between traditional leadership and government.

"Let this gathering serve as a call for peace and unity among our traditional leaders. Disputes must be resolved amicably, guided by our laws and the wisdom of our elders. We cannot allow leadership conflicts to hinder the progress we've made in delivering services to the people," Makamu emphasized.

Speaking on behalf of the Limpopo House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders, Deputy Chairperson Kgoshi Boleu Rammupudu highlighted that the newly built offices will serve 49 villages, supported by 41 headmen and headwomen.

"We congratulate Kgoshigadi Lekwelaruri Matlala on this milestone. These offices will help bring essential services from the South African Social Service Authority (SASSA), Home Affairs, and other community development initiatives closer to the people," he stated.

In her closing remarks, Kgoshigadi Matlala expressed gratitude to the government for fulfilling its commitment to constructing the offices. "We promise to take good care of these facilities and ensure they serve the people of Setumong and surrounding villages," she affirmed.
